Knead Food was established by Sue & Alan back in May 2007, having gone from strength to strength since. Now having been in business more than 10 years we are now a key part in our local community, with many everyday regulars and new customers that come back time after time.

Our indoor cafe seats 100 and our patio seats 70, looking out onto a small outdoor play area, our resident goats, pigs and chickens, looking further onto lovely Essex open countryside. We have disabled access from the car park into the cafe and onto the patio with disabled facilities.

We have recently added 'The Shed' restaurant which is a private dining area seating up to 35 people. Here we serve Sunday lunches (seasonal) and hole private parties.

We make pretty much everything that you see within our establishment, with our ovens fired up early in the morning to bake fresh bread for the day, followed quiches, our daily specials and a wide variety of cakes. Wherever possible we use local producers for our stock and ingredient’s just a few of our local suppliers are:

Our menus cater for a wide variety and we do our best to cater for as many as possible. We have a wide selection of gluten and sugar free cakes, a large selection of vegetarian options and we are also introducing vegan options. If you have any dietary requirements/intolerances please talk to one of our members of staff who will be happy to assist you with what you can/can't eat.

We are situated in the same building as The Blue Egg who are host to a wide variety of gifts and goodies, also home to a Post Office. Attached to The Blue Egg is Cherry Picked Flowers; a designer floristry at affordable prices for all occasions. Just across the car park from us is The Nurture Barn; an indoor and outdoor play venue. Finally at the back of the car park is Bardfield Garden Centre offering a wide range of shrubs and plants as well as stocking a wide range of equipment and products to help you in the garden.
